It's been an eventful weekend in Ecuador!

Meet the Leaders

It was in Thailand that David first discovered the raw power of international travel and cross- cultural connection. A few months of attempting to teach English to a few exuberant groups of Thai children was all it took for David to get hooked. He found a niche in the world of seasonal work, enabling him to spend quality time in his beloved Sierra Nevada, lead trips with Longacre Expeditions around the US, and travel a fair amount about the world. Most of his solo travel has been throughout Latin America, where he has found endless inspiration and an unshakable addiction to the Spanish language. Most recently David had the incredible opportunity to wander sections of southern and eastern Africa, which only served to strengthen his fascination with the diversity and resilience of humanity. David is ridiculously excited to return to Ecuador as a Windsor Mountain leader and to again witness the power that experiential education has to change lives and open minds.

Kate believes that there are no two things that go better together than travel and education, and can be seen roaming the globe, seeking opportunities that allow her to combine these two passions. Kate loves facilitating experiential education programs and managing residential communities with student groups of all ages. Recently, Kate has taught 5th grade environmental education at an Outdoor Education Center in Texas and taken college students around the world on Semester at Sea, a “floating university” study abroad program. For the past two years Kate has been living in the Turks and Caicos, working as the Student Affairs Manager for the School for Field Studies' Center for Marine Resource Management. There, she enjoyed helping with various marine research projects and community outreach efforts. She also got the opportunity to rack up over 100 SCUBA dives and swim alongside some pretty amazing underwater creatures...including some rather large and curious sharks! Kate holds a Masters in Science from Northeastern University in Applied Education Psychology and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Ithaca College. She is beyond excited for this next great adventure....ECUADOR 2012!!! This will be Kate’s sixth summer with Windsor Mountain and she could not be happier about making her return to the Travel Staff team and experiencing another full-powered, adventure-filled summer! (Leaders in Training ’06, Bridge Hawaii ’07 and ‘08, Bridge Caribbean '09 and '10).
